The term blood pressure is used to refer to the amount of strength that is used by the blood as it thrusts through the walls of arteries .This happens when the heart is pumping the blood to distribute it to the rest of the body. This should happen at a certain recommended pressure which should remain at that level for the body to function properly. what is considered as hihg blood pressure is when it rises more than what is recommended and continues at that point without coming down to the recommended pressure. This can be detrimental to the body since it can cause irreparable damage to the body organs.
Blood pressure is measured at two levels by use of MMHG (which stand for milliliters of mercury). There is the systolic level representing the beat of the heart when the heart is pumping blood and the diastolic pressure representing the beat of the heart during the systolic intervals. A person is considered to have a healthy blood pressure if the systolic is less than 120 and diastolic less than 80 mmhg.If the pressure starts rising beyond these levels up to a 139 systolic and 90 for diastolic, one is advised to seek medical attention so that the doctor can find out what is causing the rise. This is because the person is considered to be at risk of developing high blood pressure. Any systolic and diastolic pressure higher than these is considered dangerous and the person is said to be suffering from the disease.
